black sand beach
Can anyone tell me where the volcanic black sand beach is located in the DR? I see it in the book but under beaches it does not say which one. We recently went to St Lucia and found the beach that had black sand but was disappointed so we are looking for the one in the DR. Thanks for any help on this.

Tuxedocat-The black sand beach was not really black. When we got there it looked beige in color. You had to really sit there in front of you staring to see alittle bit of black in it. I guess we assumed it was more black than that. Thats why when I saw volcanic black sand in DR we thought that was more like we were expecting.

Oh. I guess I'd be like "Well, what was the big deal about that?" I saw a black sand beach on TV that's in Hawaii, and it looked pretty black. I'm not one interested with the color of sand though. It's more important to me that the water is clear.

Most of the volcanic black sand beaches in the Caribbean that I've seen are not at all like the Hawaiian ones I've seen depicted on tv. Most of them were various shades of brown or salt & pepper and not truly black. Pretty to look at, I grant you, but I wouldn't want to walk barefoot on one!
