Biras Creek
After reading many posts about this resort on fodors, we have decided to book it. Is it better to book thru a travel agent or directly with the hotel to get the best price? Also, any recent comments of those who have been there would be much appreciated.

Generally, you will pay the same whether you book directly or with a travel agent. A percentage of the total is for the travel agent, it is not added on.
I always book through my travel agent since he can corrordinate the hotel reservation to the airline booking, plus arrange ferries, etc so that the trip goes off without a hitch. However, he specializes in the Caribbean - some travel agents do not.

7% Government taxes and 10% gratituty is automatically added to your bill at Biras and most of the large BVI resorts, so there is no need to worry about tipping.
However, if a staffmember does something extra for us, we often slip them a "little extra". Such as one who has led a snorkeling trip, perhaps given hubby a few windsurfing lessons, or helped reserve a rental car and plan a day trip.
