best island for girl's trip
I'm looking into a trip for 10 women next spring and I was wondering what island and/or resort would be ideal? Age is 39-40 and we will be staying for 4-5 nights. Looking for a relaxing spot but with activities/shopping around as well.

Just about every island offers what you're looking for so you need to be more specific if you want any meaningful recommendations.
It would help if you told us
Budget ... a deal breaker for many (airfare, how much? accommodation?)
1. Your departure airport (do want short flights? non stop?)
This would be important for such a short trip imo.
2. Activities? SCUBA? snorkeling? zip-lining? horse riding? hiking? OTHER?
3. shopping.... for souvenirs? high end jewelry?
With no further advice I might recommend St. Barts but it will cost you $$$ and will be difficult to get to

Sorry to give too little information. First time to post. Ok, we will be flying from several different locations (midwest, south, east coast)so we need to go somewhere that is relatively easy to get to. Since we are only going for 4-5 nights I don't want to spend a full day getting to our location and back. I'm thinking BVI, USVI, maybe Bahamas etc as long as we're not heading further south such as Barbados which is my absolute favorite island.
Our activities would include sunning, tennis, spa and minimal shopping. We all have young kids and want to relax.
As far as the accomodations go, we would be looking at a higher end resort. I'm not looking for an all inclusive or an adult only resort. I realize there will be kids at all other hotels but I don't want a family themed resort either.
I have never been to St. Barts but several people I know have and really enjoyed it. I'm open to any suggestions.

St. Bart's is fabulous, but too hard to get to for the short time of your trip. I'd stick to the easier flights. Ditto for the BVI.
Ritz Carlton-St. Thomas would fit the bill
Grace Bay,Turks & Caicos--several properties would be perfect(not much shopping though)
The Cove, Atlantis-Paradise Island, Bahamas (lots of kids in the kid parts of the resort, but The Cove is high end, so not really for kids)
All 3 of these are very easy to get too, so you wouldn't waste time changing planes.
