Beth: I have been to Bermuda twice and Nassau once. I personally think a week in Bermuda would be too long. The nice thing about Nassau is that you can take side trips to other Out Islands. Also, is budget a factor? August is high season for Bermuda, whereas it's low season for Bahamas and GC.

Thank you for your help. I should have mentioned it is a family vacation- myself, my husband and our 21 year old son. I have soem ticketsd form a promotion on British Air, and all the Europe seats are taken and these the only areas available.
I may be 100% wrong, but Bermuda seesed soemwhat limited in what to do. I have been to The Cable Beach resort in the Bahamas, so I am somewhat familiar with that.
Any inpur you wouldoffer would be greatly appreciated!
Beth

Bermuda is beautiful, but it is hurricane season and I wouldn't chance it. Grand Cayman is definitely less prone to bad weather in August. The Westin has the widest beach. Their rooms are small for 3 adults. The beach in front of the Marriot is minimal. If you go with the Hyatt, you should request a room on 7MB, if not, it is quite a walk across the street to the beach. In August, the island is not as over run as during peak season, so the you can enjoy avoiding the crowds. Try renting a one bedroom condo. Then you can have a living room, for your 21 year to sleep. The Avalon is great. I heard the Coralstone may be closed for the Summer, but that is beautiful as well.
Everyone raves about Discovery Point. I have never stayed there, but I think it's a nice condo property and the prices are good.

My husband and I stayed at the Westin in GC about 2 years ago. It is a wonderful hotel. Their beach is terrific with the dive shops picking up and dropping off right in front of the hotel. The Westin also has jet ski's for rental on their beach. Swim up bar. Excellent pool and excellent staff. I have not been to Bermuda or Nassau, but if you decide on GC the Westin is the way to go.

Except that the Westin is horribly overpriced for what the hotel offers, and is a haven for conventions.
The rooms are no better than a good Hampton Inn. For $450/night?

Wait and see what happens to Westin's pricing power once the Ritz Carlton opens. The room rates there will start a steady descent.
The only reason they get away with such gouging at the Westin is that there are no true luxury resorts on Grand Cayman. For now, anyway.
