Bermuda Airport Departure back to United States
Hi-
In reading the Fodors destination guide, it says Passengers boarding flights to the United States must clear United States Immigration and Customs in Bermuda. Should one travelling back to NYC allow extra time when leaving Bermuda (like for example in Aruba where they say get there 3-4 hours before departure)??
Any positive or negative experiences welcome!!

Yes, you'll clear US Customs in Bermuda. The process is relatively easy. If you follow the standard be at the airport "2 hours" before your scheduled flight you'll have ample time. On our last flight from Bermuda to JFK we were checked in, through Customs & Securiity and sitting at the gate in less than 40 minutes after arriving at the airport.

They close the check-in one hour before your flight is scheduled to leave. Once you've checked in, it's a quick breeze through Customs, then drop off checked baggage and go through security. Two hours is plenty, but don't miss that one-hour cut-off for check-in.
