Bermuda

Hi, I will be in Bermuda the last week in July and am staying at the Marriott Castle Harbor. I was wondering if anyone had stayed there ,if it truly is a luxury hotel and what the beach was like. Thanks

Hi Jennifer, Marriott Castle Harbor is my favorite hotel in Bermuda and as a travel agent I've seen most of them. It has five pools, some heated, a great restaurant (only tried the main dining room), a moon gate, golf course, shops. The harbor view rooms have a private balcony. I didn't see the beach; it's just a shuttle away, and my fellow travel agents enjoyed it. There's a public bus stop on the property.

Jennifer - don't know if you're aware of this or not - but Castle Harbor will be closing for good in November of this year. There was a nasty problem last year with the majority of their guests getting violently ill over a long holiday weekend. The property itself is beautiful but you'll find that you're constantly jumping on your motorbike or the bus to do anything, since the property is off by itself and not near most of the things you'll want to see/do while in Bermuda. One "must do" that IS quite close to you is the Swizzle Inn - be sure to stop in for one of their famous Monte Cristo sandwiches and a pitcher of Rum Swizzles!!! The Marriott's beach is quite nice and as the previous poster noted, you need to take a bus to reach it. Be sure to check out both Elbow beach and Horseshoe beach. Have a wonderful trip.
