Beach access in Caymans

Hi: We will be visiting Grand Cayman while on a cruise. Where is the nicest spot to get access to the beach and some nice beach restaurants. Have read that the beach by the Hyatt is not real great. thanks Karen

beach access the nicest spot is the public beach there are sort of cabanas so you are not in the sun all the time.
Its about 10 min by cab from the dock. no restaurant there though. good lunch is casa nova right in town or a pub like place across from the dock in town the Landmark restaurant ( english pub).
overlooking the port of georgetown. also you could have a small lunch not many choices at the Tree House a 10 min walk from the dock.
Exclusive 5 star dining on the waterfront no beach is the Wharf.......
Have a grand time........

You MUST go to Cemetery Beach!!!!

Take the bus (don't take a cab). Ask to be left off for Cemetery Beach.

Absolutely beautiful. And the fish are incredible.

Bob

We agree with Bob. Cemetery Beach is away from the crowded hotel section and just have the cab pick you up at a certain time to get you back to your ship. The cabbies are reliable. Have a great time.

Karen,

Just so you know, Cemetary Beach is a snorkeling spot. If you don't have any snorkeling gear (or any interest in snorkeling), you will arrive at Cemetary Beach and wonder what everyone was talking about. There are no cabanas and there is no restaurant. I second the public beach recommendation - I don't know that it has a name. Just go up West Bay road to the public beach with the children's playground. We were there at March Break and there was hardly anyone around.
Enjoy!
Smith's Cove is nice and right in Georgetown but I think it gets really busy.
