Barbados or St. Lucia??

Arranging a trip for approx. 10 people for a 65th birthday party for my mother. Looking for an all inclusive. I have been to Barbados but not St. Lucia. How would you compare the islands??

I have been to Barbados several times once for 5 days and 4 times on a cruise. St. Lucia only once but prefer Barbados by far. Have you done the Jolly Roger in Barbados....lots of fun if you like to sing and drink rum punch. I don't know much about the accomodations on St. Lucia. I think Barbados is lusher and bigger.

Have a great trip!

We've been to both in the last three years. St Lucia is a bit more primitive but has some terrific scenery. We enjoyed the Almond Beach Club on Barbados better than Sandles St Lucia. Both had great food but the beach on Barbados was much better. Both had 9 hole golf courses. The one on Barbados was much better course. Shopping much better on Barbados. Both places were very friendly. I'd go back to either one.

Why not visit both? That's what we did because they are both so very different topographically and culturally.

Hi Lisa--With the exception of raw natural beauty Barbados surpasses St.Lucia in all ways.I suspect that your group would fare much better on Barbados. ENJOY !

I am trying to choose between a trip to ST.Lucia or Margarita Island. I have heard that St. Lucia is a good place to visit, but haven't heard much about Margarita Island. How would you compare the two? We are looking at Portofino Mare on Margarita or Club ST. Lucia in St. Lucia. Thanks

I have been doing some research on both islands for my June 1998 Honeymoon. I think that Barbados is your best bet for the number of people you are trying to accomodate and for the money. It seems that Barbados has more things to do on the island than St. Lucia. A friend went to St. Lucia about 2 years ago, she said that the island was pretty but boring. Only volcanoes and rainforests to see. Barbados looks like it has pretty scenery, beaches, gardens, tours, etc. I have been checking into Almond Beach Resorts--all-inclusive and very inexpensive compared to Sandals St. Lucia. Check out their web site www.almondresorts.com. Let me know if you would like any additional info--I have plenty! [email protected]. Have a good trip!
P.S. If you are planning your trip before June, let me know how it goes.-Melissa

My husband and I went on a cruise that stopped in Barbados. There was 10 of us that got acquainted on the cruise at dinner time and decided to take a "cab/van" to the other side of the island to Crane Beach (where there is a hotel). The beach was the most beautiful beach we had ever seen and is in fact rated as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in the world by the "Lifestyles of the Rich & the Famous" program. I don't know if the hotel is an all inclusive hotel, but is worth checking into.
