Bahamas in February?

Am thinking of going to Nassau Breezes in february as it is a short flight & I need to economize on time & money. What has your weather experience been there that time of year?

Thanks in advance.

Think Fla.
It could be freezing - it could be 80+.
We went at Thanksgiving once and wore sweatshirts the entire time.
I'd pick someplace further south...

I disagree. The average temp in the Bahamas is 71 degrees in February. Highs average around 75-80 and lows around 65. We've been going in February for 22 years and while there can be cool spells if a freaky cold front blows that far south the overwhelming odds are you'll have great weather. If you are from NYC as your email alias seems to indicate you'll love it. By the way, the all time low in the Bahamas is 39. Doubt you'll see that as a high in February in NYC. We take light jackets and sweaters, primarily for the evenings and there has been only one specific day in 22 years where that was not more than enough. That happened in 1984 on Cable Beach when they expected to break that all time low, but it didn't happen. The next day, back in the low 70s. Just my opinion and it's based on personal experience.

Danny

Because it is so close to the U.S., my own experience has been that it is rather cool. On an ordinary day, my wife is wrapped up in a beach towel and is relaxing at night in jeans and a sweatshirt.

I agree with Nancy. We were on Grand Bahama one year in January and it was very cool and the pool and ocean water were downright cold. Don't risk spending your vacation money in a place where it could be nice or it could be chilly. For just about the same amount of money you can go to Mexico or to Dominican Republic where it WILL be warm.

Even in the Southern Bahamas you should take a sweater in February, just in case. The climate is sub tropical and in the winter months the temp rarely drops below 60°F at night and 72°F in the daytime. You can purchase a thin wetsuit with short pants and long sleeves and have no problem swimming off the beach. I do agree with the above posters; with El Nino, weather predicting is more uncertain. Still, for example, as I type, it's 8 degrees here in Northern Ohio and 77 degrees in Nassau, Bahamas...a difference of 69 degrees. In February, if it's even 60 degrees, who cares, you'll get a sun tan still. I finished a reef survey off of Nassau in December/January (2000-2001) and spent all day snorkeling with a wetsuit, never chilled. Robert

Go in march or april than you are on the safer side concerning the weather. More information at www.bahamas-consult.us.tc

February could be chilly, but generally the Bahamas is warm in the 70's as Danny suggested.

The Bahamas has much the same weather as S. Florida so figure at night you will need a jacket or sweater.

I have been almost every month of the year including February and have not had a problem with cold weather. If there is a chilly snap, it passes quickly.

Breezes is a nice facility on Cable Beach with a nice pool area and beachfront. I have not stayed there, but understand that food is ok and there are lots of choices.

You can get the bus to downtown Nassau to do some siteseeing and shopping and if you have the time go over to Paradise Island and check out the Atlantis.
