Atlantis Resort questions from a single mom.

Hi all,

I would certainly appreciate your advice! I am a single mother in the beginning stages of planning a trip to Atlantis in late July with my two sons (12 and 13).

I have read many postings which compare Atlantis to Vegas. And those who know Vegas, know it needs to be taken in small doses. So my first question is - how many nights should one spend at the resort? I suspect there is a fine line between the length of time needed to fully enjoy and utilize the facility and the amount of time which becomes "overkill".

I would also appreciate suggestions about the various tower, room/suite and view selections. I don't mind paying extra dollars for something......but it needs to be backed by its worth. Can a single room accommodate one adult and two young teens/almost teens? - or is a suite or adjoining rooms necessary? I am also curious if any tower is more family/child friendly. Where would a single Mom with her two boys best fit in and feel comfortable?

Given the ages of my sons, it seems there will be some limitations. They're too old for the Discovery Camp, and too young to utilize the facilities without adult supervision. Will or can there be any free time for Mom?

Many thanks for your open ears, and again, I would appreciate any insight!

B

wow food question. Well first you will LOVE the Atlantis, and your boys will probably go home kicking and screaming, it is that amazing. Lots to see and do.

As far as rooms, check right now with Atlantis as they are offering some good discounts, and July will be off season in the Bahamas so you should get real value for your vacation dollars.

I probably would choose Comfort Suites, since it is a bit more low key and that way you can have some down time, at their pool as well. Also you get a comp breakfast there.

As far as time spent, I would look at your budget and decide how much time will fit within your budget, and again, the summer will stretch those dollars.

There are some good restaurants, and fast food and local Bahamian restaurants in the immediate area, as well as the Hurricane Hole, a small shopping area within walking distance.

One note is that July will be HOT, so bring LOTS of sun block, you don't want to ruin a wonderful time with sunburn.

I would think you might be able to find some private time, and have the kids involved in one of the resort activities, and there are lots to choose from.

Check with a local travel agent on package deals and compare, and you also might check with Liberty Travel, www.libertytravel.com. They had some great prices recently when I was looking at the website.

Enjoy, it will be a trip your kids will remember always.

tweedy

I agree with checking out Liberty Travel. We have booked all our Atlantis vacations with them and they offer deals that the hotel can't match. The Atlantis is great. You and your children will love it. We always stay in the Coral Towers. It is in the middle both location and price wise.

Hi Beth,
I went to the Atlantis and loved it! Your kids will too. Don't worry about not having any free time for yourself because you certainly will. They'll be out in the pool which is neverending, enormous and great fun. You can do lots of things by yourself there. One, the spa treatments, two lounge by the pool, go to the casino while they are outside, rent a jetski and cruise around... lots of options. I'm going back this time with my husband and daughter who is 13. She's never been and I know she'll love it! Have a great trip! As far as room, just get a pool view and if I were you I'd spring for an ajoining room so you can have your own space.
