Hi<BR>I am planning a trip to Atlantis for our 20th anniversary. 14 year old daughter will be with us. Our travel agent is suggesting that we take the meal plan. She feels that it is a savings over buying your meals. One concern I have is that my daughter is the same price as us even though she eats about half of what we do. Does anyone have any thoughts on the pros or cons of taking this plan. Also if we do not take it are there less expensive alternatives within walking distance of the resort. Thanks for any help you might provide.

I was there a couple of years ago and found the meal plan to be a good value. since you can eat at some of the more expensive restaurants "ocean club" and not have to worry about what it costs. the last thing you want to do on vacation is worry about the added cost of your meal. bill at ocean club for two was a couple of hundred dollars. the meal plan covered it with the exception of alcohol. dont buy the meal plan for your child and let them eat whats on the menu

Note that ther3e are two flavors of the meal plan - the regular one and the gourmet plan - The Ocean Club is not on the less expensive plan - there is literature from Atlantis that they can send you that tells you the name of the restaurants on each plan, their normal price range ($,$$,$$$, etc) and what they serve (e.g. buffet, chinese, etc) - check the Atlantis website<BR><BR>We were there recently and took the less expensive plan - bkfst buffets seem to run $15 to $20, and dinner buffets $30 to $40, so I don't know that that meal plan saes you all that much. I can't speak for the gourmet plan.<BR><BR>I do think if you go with the gourmet plan, you have to sign up in advance of your arrival - again possibly check the website

I have been to Atlantis several times both with and without the gourmet meal plan. We found that our cost was LESS without the meal plan. We didn't want to just eat buffets, which is mainly what the regular plan offers, so we took the gourmet plan. We found we really over ate to make sure we were "getting our money's worth". The second time we didn't take any plan. You can walk down the road to the Hurrican Hole Shopping Center and get a good cheap breakfast at the newstand. You can eat at Anthony's Caribbean Grille across the street from the Atlantis. You can even order pizza from Dominos. We spent quite a bit less money without the meal plan.

Forgot to mention in my post above---We also still ate at some of our favorite "gourmet" restaurants at the Atlantis, and it was still less costly without the meal plan.

We are leaving for Atlantis this week and with two teenage girls, we opted for the meal plan. It makes me crazy when they order a meal eat two bites, then are hungry as soon as we leave the table. With the buffets I am certain they will find things they like and can try things without the dred of wasting. I would do what works for your family. Also, I am on vacation and don't want to have to run all over the place to save some bucks. Have fun!

I heard that dinner (and breakfast?) reservations should be made ahead of time. I'm not going until mid-April, but would like to set it all up. Does anyone have the phone number for this?<BR> <BR>Thanks!
