Aruba Trip Report Dec. 2010/Jan. 2011 with photos
Here is the link to our latest Aruba trip report over New Years Eve with photos:
http://www.aruba-travelguide.com/tri...2011/amy_mike/
It was our 23rd trip to Aruba but the first time we've been there for New Years Eve and the first time we rented a villa (spent part of our trip at the villa and then a few days at our usual hotel, Amsterdam Manor.)
We're already booked again for May for 2 weeks at Amsterdam Manor....can't wait to be back again.

Hi Amy/Mike,
I could use your expertise. We are heading to Aruba for the very first time for a week in May. We are young 60 year olds and love to enjoy and explore. We are staying at the Marriott on Palm Beach. What would you recommend for places to visit/things to do during the day or night. Do we need a rental car for the week. Thanks so much for your "expert" advise. P.S. Are there any "must visit" restaurants? Cheryl

Hi again,
I reread your trip report and saw the restaurants listed. All sound great. I did go online and make a reservation for Carte Blanche. One question as I don't see it any place...what is the price range for this restaurants or is it price fixed all inclusive? Again, thanks,

Hi Cheryl -
Carte Blanche has a set price. Here's the info:
They serve a 4 or 5 course menu, which includes a welcome drink and a amuse-bouche. The price per person for the 4 course is $59.00 and for the 5 course $ 69.00. For an additional cost they do a wine pairing which starts for the 4 course menu at $35.00 and for the 5 course $ 43.00. They also have a full bar and bottles/glasses of wine to purchase, too.
You might want to get a rental car for 1-3 days just to do some exploring on your own. But there are alot of restaurants, bars, shopping, casinos, etc. walkable in the Palm Beach area.
Fun stuff to do: snorkel sail, sunset sail, jeep tour of the island, donkey sanctuary, ostrich farm, golf, spas, casabari and ayo rock formations, snorkeling at Baby Beach or at Boca Catalina.....
Must visit restaurants...depends on what you're looking for. Higher end I would suggest Madame Janette's, Passions (tables in the sand, beach dining), Barefoot, and Pinchos. More casual places we like are Wacky Wahoo's (fish) and Bingo's (Dutch bar/restaurant with great food), and Amadeus. You can easily take a taxi to these places.
Have a great time!

Thank you so much. Not as expensive as I was expecting. I already made a reservation for our last evening there. For the higher end restaurants (I want to do half and half), would you suggest making a reservation before we go? I appreciate your suggestions and thank you so very much for your help. Cheryl

You can make reservations once you arrive since you'll be there in May (not as busy in May since it's the start of low season.) If you're going to a place like Passions though I would make reservations ahead of time if you want to be there at sunset (since it's on the beach, everyone likes to be there for the sunset.)
We'll also be there in May for 2 weeks....counting down the days....
