Aruba Timeshares - Opinions?

In our planning of a September 2001 honeymoon, we've just been offered a timeshare week, and would like to put in a request for a week in Aruba.

Does anyone have experiences with:

Aruba Beach Club, Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort, Casa del Mar Beach Resort, Costa Linda Beach Resort, Divi Village,
Dutch Village, Playa Linda Beach Resort, or Royal Palm Club at the Aruba Grand?

Thanks!
Jim

HI Jim:
Being a timeshare owner at the Costa Linda, I can tell you that the Costa Linda is rated the top timeshare in Aruba. You can go to their website www.costalinda-aruba.com and see the resort and the room layouts for yourself. Also, go to www.aruba-bb.com and www.visitaruba.com and also ask for other comments of the timeshares in Aruba and I'm sure the majority will say the Costa Linda is the best. Good luck.

Hi Jim -- we stayed at La Cabana in March, rated 5 star by Interval International, it was very nice. You don't mention it, so maybe its not one of your choices. However, we visited both Playa Linda and Costa Linda when we were there -- both looked great. I walked Eagle beach down to Costa Linda -- they have a great location on a spectacular beach. Playa Linda is right next to the Hyatt on Palm Beach -- a bit more crowded but more activities there if you want to be active. If you are limited to a specific week, you might want to put in for all Aruba choices to make sure you get something -- it's in demand and you do not have much time (I put my Aruba requests in 9 months in advance). Good Luck!

Jim
We stayed at the Casa Del Mar approximately 5 years ago. It was one of the best resorts that I have stayed in. We had a beautiful room overlooking the pool and ocean. We could watch the sail boats go by. It was wonderful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was away from the highrises. I have traveled to many of the islands. Stay at the Casa Del Mar pool side and you will be glad you did.

I stayed at Casa del Mar a few years back. It's fine - nice rooms, nice facility, good pool and poolside bar & restaurant. It's just a minute's walk along the shoreline to the widest expanse of white sand on Eagle Beach - it's beautiful. You can also walk out of Casa del Mar's street entrance, right across the street to shops and the Alhambra Casino.

Also located right there on Eagle Beach are Costa Linda and Playa Linda, both very nice places.
You really can't go wrong at any of those three, in my opinion.

Aruba Beach Club is very nice. We traded there a couple of years ago, and we are going back there in two days. the person who posted a big NO to it may have been confusing it with another resort. Aruba Beach Club and Casa Del Mar are actually the same resort, just built at differest times, but joined together. The low rise hotels on Eagle Beach are nice and quiet - the area where Playa Linda is (high risers on Palm Beach)can be more congested and noisy as you and hear the loud music from each hotels water aerobics class while you are on the beach. I liked the quiet at the Aruba Beach Club. Anyone can E mail me with questions - keep in mind that I leave for there on June 23! If you are a beach lover and you are exchanging - with Casa Del Mar there is a possibility that you may end up in a bldg. across the street (one bedroom units) that has it's own nice pool, but beach bums have to cross the street to the beach. Aruba Beach Club has a nice pool and everyone is footsteps from the beach. Decisions, decisions!! Have heard great reports about Playa Linda and Costa Linda - Costa Linda is close to where the ABC is, also very quiet. So, lots of great choices. Have fun! Diane

I bought at Playa Linda and Casa del Mar in '87. Loved them both. Now that Eagle Beach has been developed, Casa del Mar is my choice. Wider, quieter beach; closer to town. I sold my Playa Linda timeshare and I'll be in Casa del Mar in about 3 weeks for my 7th visit to the Island. Costa Linda looks nice too and is the same development company as the other 2. Narrowed down to 3 for ya!
