Are there direct water taxis from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda or do you have to stop i

My friends and I are planning a trip to the Virgin Islands this December. We’ll be staying in St. Thomas for a few days, but we really want to spend a day or two exploring Virgin Gorda. I’ve been checking out water taxi options, but I’m not sure how it works with customs. Are there direct water taxis from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda, or do we have to stop in Tortola first? We’re hoping to find the smoothest route without too many stops along the way.

When we traveled from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda, our boat left around 7:30 a.m. so we could reach Tortola by about 8:30 for BVI customs, since that’s the official entry point. The crew handled all the paperwork for us, so we just stayed on board while they cleared everything. It only took a few minutes, and then we were back on our way. The rest of the ride was calm and scenic — such an easy, relaxing start to the day and definitely the most convenient way to get between the islands.

When I went to the BVI last time, I booked a private water taxi with Seahorse from St. Thomas straight to Virgin Gorda. They picked us up at the airport, handled all the customs and immigration paperwork for both the USVI and BVI, and we didn’t have to make any long stops in Tortola, just a quick check while we stayed on the boat. The ride was smooth, and we could relax the whole way. I’ve also heard that Ocean Bliss Charters and Ocean Dreams Water Taxi offer similar direct transfers and handle customs too, so those are good options if you want a stress-free trip without extra stops.
