Are there any upscale boutique-type hotels in Curacao?
I am looking for a really nice place for 5 days in Curacao. I am considering the Marriott but would rather find something less commercial and quieter but with delux amenities. Does it exist?

Hi, Go to http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum...3-Curacao.html and post your question. A wonderful, local expert will answer you. We are going in October and staying at the Hilton. I booked on Hotwire which I have never done. I really hope it turns out OK. Good luck, Owa

There's the Kura Hulanda, in Willemstad. It's very nice, in converted houses in the center of town, but not on the beach. They also have a beach hotel, the Kura Hulanda Lodge, which gets great reviews but is in a rather secluded area, on a beautiful beach though.

I second Kura Hulanda. The Astrolab Observatory resturant there is good but over-rated in my opinion and a bit over-priced. The Marriott is nice but quite busy and a bit glitzy with a fair number of chldren the 2 times we stopped there. I listed some of our favorite restaurants on the thread based on 3 visits over the past 4 years.
Kura is older hotel but very well maintained and syylish and is located with easy access to sights (really only 3-4) and dining as well as to WEST END (35-40 minute) drive to 5-6 bays with very good snorkeling off the beach and quite mid-week unless schoo; is out. See my posts about Curacao for specific locations. They may be helpful.
The best time to go is Dec. to May though year round it is generally quite nice though windy in Sept-Nov., so the locals say.Enjoy.

There is also the Avila Beach Hotel which is a very nice property with a great onsite restaurant called Blues. The Floris Suites Hotel is another possibility. Curacao is a great place and you will have fun.

Avila Beach is expanding, and the work is not quite finished. If you consider this, check if the building work is still going on. There's a very nice suite, (on the other side of where they are building), right on the water with it's own deck.

Having stayed at the Marriott and both Kura properties, I wouod recommend the BEACH CLUB KURA HULANDA out in West Punt has a beautiful setting. Quiet upscale feel to it for 1/4 ofc the price of other Carribean resorts. The one in town is lovely for dining but very hot and stagnant during the day. Being on the beach was so much more pleasant. Marriott service and grounds were great but room funiture was disgusting.
