anyone know of a place in Barbados

to swim with the turtles right off the beach - have been trying to make arrangements for a snorkeling tour but no one is returning my e-mails! Are the monkeys worth the trip to the Reserve? Any help you can give me would be appreciated!

Well, I can't help you with the turtles, but I might be able to point you in the right direction with the monkeys. Unless you are an ABSOLUTE monkey lover, as in, everytime you visit a new place you go to the zoo to see their monkeys...its not worth it. It is only one species of monkeys, and depending on your hotel, you might be able to spot them on property. In fact, we encountered one on the way to our room at the Colony Club, and they hung out int he trees and on the lawn around dusk every day. If your hotel is less landscaped, you may have less chance of seeing them... but with all the wonderful things to do in Barbados (and so little time!) I wouldn't make a special trip. But others loved it so...you need to gauge your own monkey-siting desires.

I believe if you go to Mullins Bay (Mullins Beach Bar) on the West Coast there will be guys asking if anyone wants to swim with the turtles - they can take you on their waverunners.

can you tell me how far Mullins Bay Beach is from the cruise ship terminal and how is the driving if we were to rent a car?

Flycatchero6, are you in Barbados only for a day from a cruise? If so, you might better take a snorkeling tour at another island, where the snorkeling would be better. A Barbados tour (go by taxi to avoid crowds in a bus tour) would be good to include Harrison's Cave, Flower Forest(one of the most gorgeous tropical forest/gardens in the world), and Francia Plantation, a restored plantation house from the sugar cane plantation era. Have lunch and beaching at the very classy Coral Reef Club resort. It is at the edge of an underwater park where there is good snorkeling.

yes we are on a cruise and we were told this is THE place to swim with the sea turtles! We did not want to do Harrisons Caves because we are going to the caves in Puerto Rico and were told that one was much better. Are we being led astray?

I can't comment on the Puerto Rico caves. Re Barbados...it is such an exceptional island, I just thought it might be good to maximize the one day with uniquely Barbadian sights.
