Anyone been to Secret Harbour, St Thomas?

We are planning a trip to St Thomas in November. After doing much research, we are leaning towards Secret Harbour Beach Resort because of its good snorkeling, the option for a one bedroom oceanfront suite, and the price. We will be with our son and my sister's family, so accomodations with extra bedrooms are important. We've heard mostly positive reports about the facility, but we usually stay at more luxurious resorts.

Does anyone have any input or suggestions? The price seems too good to be true...$3400 for 10 nights in a one bedroom oceanfront, dbl occupany, including air from NY.
Altho I have never stayed at Secret Harbour, I do enjoy the lovely beach there with very good snorkling and Blue Moon Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants on the island. I know several people who have reported excellent stays and they do repeat as guests really considering nowhere else! The beachfront units are literally right on the beach but there is upstairs and downstairs units. That is certainly a very big plus!!

Ditto above and I have stayed there. True that the huge digs are not luxurious - no marble baths or soaking tubs here - but all the amenities you need, big terraces with killer views and just a great atmosphere over all. Everyone - staff to guests - are just happy to be there! I wish I were.

We stayed there for a week one year ago this week. It was excellent. We went for an anniversary trip with another couple. We are early 40's and enjoyed it. More quiet and relaxing than other resorts we've stayed at on St Thomas. The snorkeling was awesome here. We've snorkeled all over the Carribean and we saw some awesome things right off the beach,...large sea turtles, stingrays etc. The people are really friendly and nice there. Very casual and quiet. Close to RedHook for restaurants and the ferry as well. One word of caution, my friend and I went out for a powerwalk one morning and went on the road that leads to the resort from the main road. We were literally chased and bitten by a pack of vicous dogs. Scared the pants off of me! They were leaping and trying to bite the backs of our legs. We took off running and met up with a man carrying a lead pipe! He carries it on his walk each morning because of these dogs. Just FYI I wouldn't take your child for a walk very far from the place. These dogs are supposedly guard dogs for some of the homes but they were totally out of control.

For that kind of money--you could get a villa on St. John that everyone could stay in and you could share the cost. I like SH but not when SJ is only a ferry ride away. JMHO
