Any advice appreciated =Atlantis

Leaving for the Atlantis in 1 week. We have never been to the resort before or the Bahamas. Any advice, experiences, tidbits would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If your going to Atlantis, bring lots of money. The restaurants are excruciatingly expensive. (and not that great)
I suggest you spend a couple of days exploring the rest of the area. Take a ferry to shop in Nassau (the shops are cheaper than Atlantis), Adastra Gardens and Zoo, or take a day trip to the Dolphin Encounter, Rose Island Private Island (Lunch, snorkeling), the Booze Cruise,(if your inclined to party) etc. For restaurants, try the Poop Deck over the Bridge, Cafe Johnny Canoes, Montegue Gardens, Cafe Matisse and try either Iguanas Cafe or Conch Fritters in town for lunch.
Have a great time!
Have been to the Atlantis several times. Everyone complains about the price of the food, but we feel it's comparable to any of the better resorts. We really like to have dinner at Villa D'Este. The Bahamian Club is also quite good. If you are going to either of these Atlantis' restaurants make reservations in advance. For less "gourmet" and less expensive meals, Murray's Deli is right there and also the Atlas Bar and Grille. Across the street is Anthony's Caribbean Grille. Down the street is the Hurricane Hole Shopping Center. You can get good inexpensive breakfast there at the News Stand. There is also a market where you can get drinks and snacks to take back to your room.
Explore all the beautiful grounds and the incredible aquariums and The Dig. Have fun on the water slides and the lazy river ride. Relax and enjoy!

I envy you, I have been there several times
, and love it, it is from my point of view one of the best deals you can get in the Bahamas, it is beautifull, you will love it, the food, well they have buffet that is around 20.00 dollars per person including tea, soft drinks and coffee, and a very nice buffet, that is by the way, there is so much to do and so many different plasces where to eat that it is not a problem. I hope you have a great time!.
I second Villa D'Este. It was very good. Mama Loos was also very good. Unfortunately, I chose to go to Fathoms, rather than the Bahamian Club and was extermely disappointed. I did not care for the atmosphere, service or food. Also, I may be wrong, but I did not see a dinner buffet for $20/person - I'm pretty certain that it was $40/person.

Overall, a beautiful resort on a beautiful stretch of beach with many things to see and do.

1. Slides and tube rides are great - going through the tube with the sharks swimming around is a surreal experience

2. Going through the dig is really neat - the acquariums are as good as anywhere.

3. My kids had a wonderful time at the Dolphin Encounter - it's a 25 minute boat ride each way, 3 hours total. Best to book as far in advance as possible

Have a great time - any extra room in your suitcase for us?
