Anguilla - Cuisinart - Beach Erosion?

Can anyone comment on the status of the beach in front of Cuisinart? We are supposed to go in late January, and we have been hearing that the beach directly in front is nearly destroyed from hurricanes this past fall. "Alles Gut!"

It's never as bad as talked about. We were there after the last hurricane and yes, there was less beach, but it was still just as gorgeous. Don't even worry about it.

I agree that things are usually exaggerated but that is not the case here. I heard about the beach errosion and the Cuisinart tried to tell me it would be fine by the time we got there in mid Feb. Humm. The hurricane hit in Aug and this is what it looked like 4 months on Dec 28th. http://gallery.me.com/rwpowers#100141
I cant imagine what differece another month will make. i was also concerned that they would be working on the beach while we were there which would be worse then the erosion itself. We were booked to be there for 9 nights so i was not going to take any chances.

This gave me no comfort at all that they will get the beaches back this season. We canceled and are going to st barths instead. You should check out st barths or st martin or something on the other side of anguila.

Most of those photos are of the Dune Preserve, next door to CuisinArt. Cuisi was hit hard, but these photos show the worst areas. If you look closely, you do see where there is beach, not as wide as usual, but is is nice and it is coming back. Continue to check here, and on the other Anguilla forums for updated photos and reports from travelers on island

Beachykeen you are so right. I checked out Cuisinart's beach
in early December. There is a beach, more so in low tide,
and they did lose sand where its rocky in front of their
beach bar and the villas to the west. The end by The Dune
had gained a lot of sand over the years, but that is now gone.It is located at the extreme west end of a huge Rendezvous Bay and is prone to more loss and wind. Yes- the beach is much narrower-but its there --and if you walk to the west it gets wider and wider. If I were going to Cuisinart I would ask for villas for the higher number villas .10, 9, 8 and 7.

Cap Julucas beach is fine, it got wider on the east end
and they had a sand pumper for the narrower west end. I stayed
there in in early December and it was fine. It was also too
wide at the east end!

We have returned from an idyllic time in Anguilla. The beach was great!

I agree with above poster. Our favorite Villa is number 10 on the third floor. If you are getting married there treat yourself and get a third floor room. The view from this particular room is second to none. I have to double check the room number, but I have it on my camera at home.
