In the majority of cases it is worth it to go all inclusive, especially in the caribbean. In areas such as Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Margarita Island or the Dominican, our dollar goes a little further. However for the sheer convenience of not having to carry money around or worry about how much dinner is going to cost etc....it is worth going all inclusive. I have only been to a non inclusive resort once and I wouldnt do it again. If you want to ask about any particular place please feel free to e-mail me. I hope this helps!!!

If you are Canadian, you can't beat all inclusive given the current exchange rates. We've done 6 mid-price all-inclusives ($1,100. to $1,300. per person per week) and then only need another few hundred dollars to take along for side trips off the resort, shopping, etc. Diamond Resort in Cozumel is nice and the island is wonderful (we went back again but to another all-inclusive place but it was just okay). Jack Tar on St. Kitts is beautiful (but not directly on the beach if that's a requirement for you). Club St. Lucia is good. Club Antigua was great. And Holiday Inn in Aruba was great (the hotel is very, very basic but very large, very clean rooms) - Aruba was great but you definitely need to go all-inclusive!

Since you mentioned Cozumel, let me suggest Akumal, which is on the mainland about 30 minutes south of Playa Del Carmen. You can do all-inclusive here and the day trips to local sites are only 30 to 60 minutes each way as opposed to 60 to 90 minute each way if you were in Playa, Cozumel or Cancun. If you are interested go to www.rascalsinparadise.com and request Akumal info. Also, feel free to e-mail me for more info. Good Luck!

Just read your message regarding Holiday Inn in Aruba. We are considering it (possibly leaving in two weeks). Would you be able to give me some more information (is the beach BEAUTIFUL, is the sand white, is the selection of food varied i.e. barbeque nights, do you get wine with your meals). We have also been to Club Antigua and loved it. The food was fabulous!! The beach was nicer closer to the condos. How would you compare it to Club Antigua as a guide. Your help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks.

We were in Aruba last May. I would definitly NOT go all inclusive. I know a lot of people say this is the way to go and I am not sure why. Aruba has some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. If you were to go all inclusive you would miss out on El Guacho, Papiemento, El Faro, Swiss Chalet, etc. All inclusive is good when the restaurants in the area are not so great, really expensive, or hard to get to, none of which reall applies to Aruba. Driving is very easy in Aruba, or you can get a cab. I know this is my opinion but I feel it is accurate. Enjoy your vacation and if you have any questions e-mail me.

We stayerd at the Holiday Inn Aruba last July and had a wonderful time. I would not recommend going all inclusive as I compared the price they were advertising to what we spent in food and we spent much less paying as we went. There are many many restaurants and if you check around many are not that expensive. There is a good rib place just across the street from the Holiday Inn. There is a package which includes a breakfast buffet every morning at the hotel and I would recommed it. Other then that eat out at other restaurants. We went to the dinner buffet on the beach one night and it was not very good. It was the only dinner I was disappointed about while we were there. Out front of the Holiday Inn there is a pier with a restaurant at the end. I would recommend their food and romantic setting, although they do not have an extensive menu. An all inclusive that I would recommend is Jack Tar on Sty. Kitts. The ocean is across the street. All you do is walk across the street and on a path thru sand dunes. The beach is very nice and it was not crowded when we were there. If you want to go to the caribbean sea there is a shuttle,. bicycles or you can walk(long). They have food out almost every hour of the day except midnight to 6 A.M. and drinks are included all day. Another all inclusive which was a good price was Club on theGreen in Dom. Rep. I believe it is an Allegro resort now. Although the beach is not as nice and it is a "walkable" walk to the beach.

I always go all-inclusive when I travel to the
Caribbean. With the Canadian dollar at its current
level, it's a great deal to pay everything in
advance in our own currency.
My suggestions include Holiday Inn - Aruba and
Jack Tar (Allegro now) in St. Kitts. Both are
wonderful places. E-mail me if you have specific
questions on either of these.

We stayed at the Jamaica Grand Renaissance Hotel in Ocho Rios recently. It was all-inclusive, and one of the best we have seen. For one, the resort is beautiful, well-decorated, with gorgeous rooms, and a great choice of restaurants. The food was good, but the best part is unlimited cocktails of any kind. They have a huge variety of frozen drinks, and they are very generous with the liquor, unlike some other all-inclusives. They offer lots of activities, including a boat trip out to a coral reef for snorkeling. Well worth the price!

I've been to the Bushiri all-inclusive in Aruba 12 times and would highly recommend it. The food is great and the drinks keep a flowing! Some people believe that you miss out on trying Aruba's restaurants but we always go out 1 night. Our hotel's dinner include such delights as escargot, chambert fritter, tenderloin steaks, etc. etc. Wherever you decide, HAVE A GREAT TIME!
