All-inclusive honeymoon vacation
Message: Hello all. My fiance and I are looking for advice regarding our honeymoon. We want to stay in an all-inclusive resort either in Jamaica or the Dominican Republic. Beach, pool, and food are important, as is romance. The catch is, we want the stay and air travel to run us less than $4000. Any suggestions?

Jereme,
It depends on where you are flying from. Package prices can very greatly depending on departure point. My husband and I purchased an AI package to DR for $2600 taxes and fees in. My brother and his wife wanted to join us but live halfway around the country. Their cost for the same room type, same hotel, same week was $4200. You may also want to mention when you are planning on flying. Off season rates would get you a very nice package for $4000.

We have never been to DR so can only comment on Jamaica as we have been there a number of times (going back in April!!!!!!)
There are the Sandals resorts, which are wonderful but they do vary from one another so depends on what you are really looking for. You can definetly find one for under 4 grand. In general NEgril is known for its beaches and persoanlly feel it is the best part of the island. Sandals NEgril is a beautiful resort with a nice pool on the beach. Sandals Royal CAirbbbean would be more affordable as would Sandals Ocho Rios, which is known for its beautiful property. Sandals Dunn's River has great pool right on the beaches and is gets good reviews. Enchanted Gardens, in the hills of Ocho Rios is a really beautiful resort and very affordable. Couples are also very popular and on the higher end are the Grand Lido resorts.
I do have pictures of some of the Sandals and of Enchanted Gardens - just email if you want the site.

Have been to five different resorts in Jamaica - Grand Lido San Souci (very nice), Braco, and Negril (1/30-2/9/02), Sandals Negril, and Sandals Dunns River. Negril is the spot to go - nicer beaches, less wind, but take Tim Air from Mobay - bus takes tooo long and is a rough ride. You can definately get a package plan for $4000 or less - you may be able to get extra days wrapped in. Check with discount-all-inclusive.com or alltheywaytravel.com. These two sites offer best rates and we've used discount all inclusive our past two trips. Good Luck!
