airport help!!
We are leaving for St Maarten this Sunday...just heard the Juliana airport is applying UK carry-on restrictions as ...in Nothing is permitted . This means we can fly to with some things in a carry on but homeward bound all must be packed. So we need to make the... cell phone ..ipod ..laptop decision now. I hate to pack a laptop and cell phone as I was robbed in Schipol Netherlands after a bag was x-rayed. Any first hand experience?
Thanks..
Thanks..

No first hand knowledge here...but this issue was just discussed on MSNBC.
The prevailing opinion is that pilfering/robbery from checked bags will increase dramatically. With the items you mentioned being first to go.
If you can live without them...leave them at home.
We will all have to re-learn how to pack ;-(
Good luck and enjoy your trip !

Oh no! Where did you find this info.? That is my main departure hub and I have a few trips coming up in the next several weeks. Eek!
I have tight connections that checked baggage probably wouldn't make so I was planning to bring only clothing in my carry-on and buy toiletries, etc. when I arrive at my destinations.
Sheesh, I guess I'd better find the info on this.

I just talked to a friend whose daughter traveled from the US to St. Maarten today, and then was outbound from St. Maarten to here. She said that everyone in the departure hall at SXM had the usual carry-on's. She said the security rules in effect were the same as in the US.
Whew.
Whew.
