Airfare to Cancun...is this right?
Our kids are going to Cancun the second week in December, which I believe is one of the chepest times to travel. I am getting a quote of 455 per person for airfare from Cincinnati. That seems a bit high. Do you think I should wait a while and see if that goes down, or is that price about right? Thanks in advance.

I consider anything under $500 flying from anywhere except southern Florida, NYC area, or Boston to be pretty good. In my experience, airfare doesn't always fluctuate to follow the hotels' high and low seasons. For example, we almost always travel to the Caribbean in mid to late June because of our work schedules, but for the last three years I've seen the pattern of airfare spiking by $100-300 per ticket for travel after June 11 or so.

Yes, a package with Vacation Express or Apple could be a good deal and cheaper than purchasing air and hotel alone. If you have a time share or something and only need air, then check again the two operators above for their nonstop charter prices. Also, consider American Trans Air from Indianapolis. I used to live in Lexington and would drive the four hours to save a couple hundred per ticket. But, I will tell you that that rate is not really that high. I agree that anything under 500 from your area is good. I have seen charter specials from time/time in the range of 300-400 with taxes included- but don't wait too long to book counting on prices to drop.
