Cost really depends on when in the year you are travelling. If postpone your honeymoon until June, rates go down a lot. But if course, so does your risk of your trip being ruined by rain or hurricane.

Consider Dominican Republic, Cancun, SuperSurprise deals to SuperClubs resorts, or Wild Card deals to Club Med villages.

Next week I am getting married at the Wyndam Sugar Bay in St Thomas.Air from Columbus with an all-incl.week stay in luxory room, was approx. $ 3200. total. We booked thru American airlines vacations, who were helpful in locating the cheapest flight for us.I also would recommend Breezes in the bahamas which is in the same price range.I heard that the Breezes in Jamaica while a little cheaper is not as nice a property.

I can agree that Cancun will probably fit the bill, especially the playa Del Carmen area, which is further south and also called "Mayan Riviera". One of my friends raved about her stay at the Moon palace there. Check wih your travel agent- flights are not expensive, too!

Our freinds honeymooned in Cancun at Moon Palace and had a fabulous stay... but prices have sky rocketed since they stayed there (they stayed when intro prices were offered). Another place I would say would fit the bill at $1100 per person Canadian is Rui Tequila in Mayan Coast. My cousin stayed there a couple months ago and said it was amazing. Really good food, terrific rooms and service, etc.... she is considering going back next year for her honeymoon...she says it is mostly 'honeymooners' and it is romantic for "CANCUN"

Diana, Unfortunately $3,000.00 for two people isn't very much! Your best bet is definitely Mexico, however, there is a big difference between Mexico and a caribbean island. I have also found good deals in Jamaica, but likewise, Jamaica is Jamaica. You have to put up with a lot of garbage from the natives.... Why not wait until you can really afford a nice vacation to Cayman Islands or the Virgin Islands. You definitely will be happy with these choices over the ones I mentioned above. Cheaper isn't always better! Have fun and good luck.

Actually, I really believe there are affordable nice places out there and feel no reason why we should not be able to find a resort for under 250pp a night! Almost all places in Aruba are in the price range (including airfare)and I already have quotes from Sandals Halycon in St. Lucia that is only 3200 (with air). No need to postpone, just need to do more research!

That's it! Where there's a will there's a way. It does just take more research. Looks to me according to my AAA Caribbean TravelBook that rates at most places go down dramatically after the last week in April, so you may be able to afford a nicer place than you think.

What about the Bahamas? Stayed at Nassau Beach Hotel in '87, and it was pretty nice. Have heard that they've recently renovated and that it's very nice. I don't know rates but think it's NOT one of the MOST expensive places in Bahamas.

Also, I've seen several posts in past regarding the Atlantis. Not only will their rates be much lower in May than usual, but I guess it's a pretty good deal to stay at the Comfort Suites next door which still allows you complete use of Atlantis' facilities. I realize a Comfort Suites may not be the ideal honeymoon hotel, but maybe using Atlantis facilities would make up for it. I've heard the food there is really expensive. Good Luck finding something.

I went to Atlantis Resort this past December. You do not have to stay in their newly built wing, instead, stay at the renovated area (where rooms run for about $100 a night) and you are welcome to use all the facilities on Atlantis Resort property. *Do not be fooled by the other resorts on Paradise Island stating that you will be able to use Atlantis' facilities, Atlantis personnel will kindly ask you to leave* There are great little restaurants where one can eat across from the resort in the shopping mall. The food in the Resort is quite expensive. So is their "Menu Plan", which is offered by the hotel. Anyway, it is a beautiful resort, 14 acres and many things to do and see. Explore the Ruins, go down thru the shark pool, and please do enjoy the enormous casino, just be careful with the spending tendencies. Also, the marina is a magnificent place to take a stroll after dinner and view those enormous yachts. Very kind people too. You'd have to take a taxi into downtown Nassau, or a ferry ride. Just do not be side tracked by "pirate" taxi attendants. Stick to the one where you actually buy a "ticket" rather than giving cash upfront, more than likely the attendant will ask you for more, trying to make a cheap buck off of you. And that only results in one becoming bothered. That is no way to begin a honeymoon!! Congratulations!!
