Villa or All-inclusive resort?

A little more information is needed before anyone can give you advice.

Personally, we only go AI if at all possible. We feel it's a better deal for the money as we eat/drink a lot on vacation. Plus don't like to look for resturants or pay for taxis to get there. We do not like Villas as we do not want to cook/clean-up on vacation. I do that at home the other 355 days a year. We also have to add approx. $1,000 on top of air and accomendations for meals/drinks. For some, cooking on vacation is the only way they are going to be able to afford the destination they want to go to.

AI vs. non-AI is a "hot" topic. Some people love them, some hate them. You'll get a variety of answers. I agree with the above poster - need more info as to what your looking for????

Villa rentals generally come with cook, housekeeper, caretaker and often driver, night security and other staff included so all cooking/prep/cleaning
is not part of anyone's holiday. If it's your first visit to a particular island, AIs are a safe bet before you move on to the greater privacy and better pricing of a villa which is geneally about half the price of an AI.

I say go with the yurt.

it would help if you said where you are planning to go. each island is different in what there is to offer. tivertonhouse said that villas come w/cook/housekeeper/security etc. in the VI's this is not so(i'm sure there are exceptions).. you can ask for such and it is available, but these sevices would be additional to the villa price.renting a villa is not for everyone for reasons stated by other posters..depending on the island, this is for me, the only way to go..we're not Al people..we like to get out and taste all there is to offer..go to any restaurant/beach that catches our eye and meet some great people who live where we're staying and not just other tourists. makes for more adventure and exploring..just my opinion.

Not offered yet in the Caribbean for lodging, a YURT is a portable circular lodge of felt laid over a collapsible framework of poles. Think Genghis Khan or 60s hippies...
