Accomodations St. John
Hi there!
I just got engaged on Sunday and we have decided on a destination wedding in St. John.
We are expecting around 25 couples to join us, however, we are concerned about affordable accomodations for our guests. Any recommendations? We are looking at May 4-6, 2007.
Thanks so much!

Congrats on the engagement.
What do you (or your guests) consider affordable? There are only a few large hotels on St. John that can accomodate all 25 rooms. Have you checked into Caneel Bay, The Westin and Gallows Point?
There may be cheaper places in St. Thomas, but then the guest would have to ferry over for the event.
Good luck.

great island for a wedding !! i got the impression you have not been to st. john ?? what do you mean by affordable ? this can vary from person to person ! give us some help here and we'd be glad to help you !! do you have an island wedding planner ? might be helpfull considering the amount of people coming. you want to be able to give your guests some options /price etc. a planner may be able to get the info you need. this doesn't need to be too difficult but 5/4 is less than a yr from now and places do book fast, so you need to make the plan !! imo you don't want guests staying in st. thomas..too much back and forth/ferry time. if you want everyone "together" i would say the Westin would be the best bet..less $$ than Caneel and closer to cruz bay !!

Congratulations on your engagement! If I may tag along with your question, my husband & I will be celebrating our anniversary & my 30th birthday by going to St. John in June - on a budget! I'd really like to spend no more than $1,000 on lodging for a week if possible. We are pretty low-maintenance in terms of our lodging requirements, but I want to make sure we choose someplace safe & clean. My husband would like to stay in town in Cruz Bay & I'd like someplace with a kitchenette so we can eat breakfast & pack a sack lunch before heading out for the day. We're looking at the Cruz Views Condos. Does anyone have info or comments about Cruz Views? Or other suggestions on where we might stay? Even though our trip is many months away, I feel like I should start booking soon in order to get our first choice flights with our advantage miles.

gechter.......we've stayed at Cruz Views Condos. we've always enjoyed this place !! very close to town/ in fact you can walk...nice pool which never is busy..most guests are off exploring for the day. nice sunsets too. the condos are very comfortable. all are privately owned so decor etc. varies but all have everything you need... i do have my favorites..#10 & #7. don't hesitate to book , many people book 1 yr ahead. another option for you , if you'd consider being out of town is Honeymoon Cottage. this is an adorable cottage/private/5 min walk to Francis Bay Beach ( love this beach )of course staying here you have to have a car for the week ,great having you own wheels , even if staying in cruz bay..you can drive the island and stop where ever you want. check this site : www.stjohnusvi.org -- the cottage owner lives on st. john and is very friendly/helpfull...great resource !!! good luck !1

Some friends of mine just had a nice stay at Estate Lindholm. They only have ten rooms, but it might be part of a package of hotels that you suggest to your guests.

tommysgirl: To save money and still have a fairly luxurious experience, I suggest renting a slew of villas. Per couple, the price plummets versus the cost of a hotel/resort. There are many villas which have 4-5 bedrooms, and there are even clusters of villas next to or close to each other which may provide enough proximity. Some villas are quite spacious and could be a beautiful setting for a wedding as well. There are also several caterers/consultants on island who regularly put together such affairs. The Westin also has 3 bedroom villa/condos. that they rent out and is on average cheaper than a straight hotel room.
