Absolute best accomodation in Barbados
My wife and I are going with another couple in late December. Leaving the kiddies home. In our 40's, love golf and tennis, being pampered, beautiful views of water...money is no object. Where do we stay and what do we do? Heard good things about Almond Beach Village. Help!
There are several minor courses on the island, but you will without a doubt want to play Royal Westmoreland & Sandy Lane. You must stay at a hotel with priveledges to play RW, so make certain the resort you choose can arrange a tee time there. It's been a couple of years since last visit, but I believe Royal Pavilion is one of the few that can arrange. Sandy Lane might have limited number of holes playable right now because of the redo. Get the phone #s from the Barbados Tourism website.

Cobbler's Cove is a wonderful property you might check. Don't know about Almond Beach except that it's large & has an extensive children's program, lots of families.

I have a question for above poster? We love the beach-have stayed at Treasure Beach once would love to try Cobblers Cove. How is there beach front area, sandy bottom, rocky, beach vendors, jet skis? We love peace and quiet-the beach in front of Sandy Lane is one of the best. My major complaint after going to less busy islands is the beach. I love touring Barbados and there many excellent restaurants.

Almond Beach Village is geared toward families so I wouldn't recommend it if you are leaving kids at home. Also, I stayed there when it was Heywoods and can tell you it was a long ways away from things -- we found it inconvenient. My husband is an avid golfer and we will probably stay at Royal Pavilion for the golf privileges at Royal Westmoreland and Sandy Lane. I would love to stay at Sandy Lane but doesn't seem like it will re-open for quite a while.

I stayed at Almond Beach Village this spring, and though we had a great time, we were somewhat disappointed in the resort. The food was excellent, always 2 or 3 restaurants to choose from and there was mediocre evening entertainment. I was very disappointed in the beach, which was stony and very un-level. If you walk about 500m down the beach there is a lovely flat area. The accomodations were disappoionting for a 4 1/2 star resort (small and quite dated). There was a small par 3 course on the property (included in all-inclusive package prices), that was fun for beginners like ourselves, but if you are an avid golfer, I think you would be disappointed. There are many lovely properties available in a similar price range that may be more of what you are looking for. Good luck !
