5 nights, $2k, from WAS... possible?

Hi all. I am trying to plan an anniversary trip with my husband over Memorial Day. We really want to go to T&C, but I'm just not sure it's possible for ~$2k. If you have any insight as to hotel deals and the like, I would really appreciate it!

Is "WAS" Washington DC? If so, I may be able to provide some guidance since I recently booked late April/early May trip to T&C, but Memorial Day weekend is popular, so prices may be higher and availability more limited.

I found that airfares including all taxes have been just over $500/person for mid-April and beyond. I was hoping for a fare sale, and based on previous years would have expected one to be announced already, but it hasn't happened so far.

Assuming you fly out of one of the Washington, DC area airports, that leaves almost $1000 for lodging and food. If you want to stay on Provo and stay directly on Grace Bay or the lowest priced accommodations will be around $200/night give or take. To get lower than that, you might consider staying at a property that is a short walk from the beach (e.g., Comfort Suites) or look into specials at the Alexandra (http://www.alexandraresort.com/alexandra.asp). I don't know if they are doing it then, but they have been offering 2 for 1 deals because they have had a lot of construction around). The Sands and Comfort Suites are also offering rooms on skyauction.com, but I think the holiday weekend may be blacked out. I've also heard that the Sibonne is on the lower end of prices, but it is small. Coral Gardens, RWI, Sands, and the two Ocean Clubs are other options in the moderate range. A lot of the accommodations on Provo are condo type, so you can save some money by bringing food down and/or stocking up on breakfast, lunch, snack foods at the store there. Overall, food prices on Provo seem higher (both stores and restaurants) compared to the US, but that makes sense given that it is an island.

Some people have mentioned getting better deals through packages with air/hotel, but I did not find that was the case when doing my research.

Try www.beachdestinations.com. We used them for our trip in May '06 and got a good rate with no problems.

I just put in WAS to PLS for 4 nights 5-25 to 5-29. These hotels came up less than $2000 including airfare for 2 adults; Comfort Suites, Sibonne, OceanClub Resort, Ocean Club West, The Sands and Royal West Indies.

We stayed at the Sibonne and it was a nice hotel directly on Grace Bay.

I'd suggest taking a look at airline vacation websites, such as www.aavacations.com, which is the one for American Airlines. Through them we were able to book 5 nights on a similar budget over Thanksgiving weekend from a non-major east coast airport in the fall. We ended up on St. Kitts instead of T&C, but T&C was one of the destinations we were considering within our price range.

Good luck!

Ooops, just realized you said 5 nights, not 4. I rechecked and those same hotels are still uner $2,000 with air for 5 nights.
