1st cruise

This is a first cruise for husband and I.. we are taking my 18 month old son and my mom. We are doing the E Carribean on the Celebrity (Century).. wanted any good beaches to visit with baby. Also any sights worth seeing in San Juan, St Maarten or Nassau. Any info on Century recent experiences. Thanks!

Any sights worth seeing? My goodness, yes! In San Juan, see the old city, El Morro, Condado Beach. St. Martin/Maarten rent a car & explore the gorgeous beaches. Nassau, we like Cable Beach, but of course Atlantis is the big deal on Paradise Island. These are just the obvious suggestions. There are many more plus a variety of shore excursions the ship offers. If you don't want to have the baby out in the sun, shopping is fun & colorful in all three ports. If you do take the little one out, use sunscreen. Salt, sand & water in the bright sun make for a quick burn on delicate skin.

Hi Wanda: The butterfly farm in St. Martin may be a nice place to take your son and then a half day at the beach. On Orient beach there are chaise lounges and umbrella to rent. In San Juan walking the old streets up to El Morro, there are usually people out kite flying ect. and lots of birds in the squares for your little one to watch. Did you check the cruise opinion site to get recent experiences of the Century. karen

Thanks for the responses. I have been reading the sites about our particular cruise and am getting some good info. I planned to do both Old San Juan and the butterfly farm.. that's definitely my kind of fun... don't care much for the loud party nightlife type of fun right now..... I guess some of the negative information I've seen kind of worried me. My husband and I got married in Jamaica and really didn't care for the place.. we did not do an all inclusive and think we might have liked that better. We were in Negril and the poor people, though I felt bad for them, really about worried us to death... It became tiring quickly and we were ready to get home. I am going to try to chill and enjoy every second of the trip... I just hope not to find the same type of atmosphere as we had in Jamaica. Thanks again

Hi, Wanda
My 2 daughters,son-in-law and I were on
Century 2 years ago. We have sailed quite a few cruise lines. This was the first on Celebrity. Food, service were absolutly top drawer. The overall atmosphere of the ship was quieter and more laid back than others, but I'm sure you'll love it. We are sailing Celebrity again this year, to the South Caribbean. Have a good time!
