10yr anniversary trip ideas

Need help with ideas of where we should go for our 10yr anniversary.
We are not set on a specific island however we don't want to go to Mexico, Jamaica or Dominican Republic.
Requirements:
• All-inclusive, adult only
• Travel Dates: June 29th to July 7th, 2013. 7 nights.
• Budget: $2,000, Airfare not included.
Can travel from the following locations:
Florida
Boston
New York

Any help with ideas on where to go or where we can do research to find locations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It amazes me time and time again that people post that they want an AI vacation at such a low budget, but not interested in the 3 places in which they will actually find it. Not trying to be snarky. There are many past posts regarding this same subject.

I have been to many AI resorts throughout Mexico and the Caribbean and it very difficult to find what you are asking for in that budget outside of those 3 destinations. Especially for adult only. Not very many places offer that option for that price point.

Here is a list of AI hotels in the Caribbean. They will donote family, adult, couples. Do a little research on the hotels and then check some on-line booking sites for prices. Narrow down some choices and then post back if you have specific questions.

The places you want to go are known for AI, so that's where you'll find them for your budget.

So I gotta ask? Why not those places?

Other islands, not known for AIs, even if they have them, will be much higher price points.

Not those places because we have already been and we wanted to try something different.

Are you open to not having AI? You've been to the islands known for it, other islands that don't usually offer it not in their personality. Even if they have an AI, then they are going to be way over your budget, and not be what you expect from an AI that you'd find in Mexico, DR or jamaica.

If you don't mind then, tell us more

Small hotel, big resort or villa?
Town, shopping, casinos, nightlife important?
Excursions or just relax?
Hilly and scenic or beaches like Corona commercials?
Do you like to drink a lot z(where AI saves you money)?
Active or quiet?
Consider renting a car?

What di you like or didn't like about the places you've been?

If you do come across some other islands that you think you may be interested, that time of year you may be able to find resorts (perhaps not all-inclusive) that may have special rates on accommodation. However if you have a preference for the activities and the overall feel the island that would be attractive to you should have that could open up some exciting options and great feedback from travellers.

Best regards

Right now the biggest factor is cost. I really thought $1,000 per person would be sufficient.
We are opened to any of the following:
Small hotel, big resort or villa? Prefer - big resort or villa
Town, shopping, casinos, nightlife important? Prefer - Nightlife
Excursions or just relax? - Both
Hilly and scenic or beaches like Corona commercials? Beaches
Do you like to drink a lot z(where AI saves you money)? We like to drink but not allot.
Active or quiet? A little bit of both
Consider renting a car? Yes

What di you like or didn't like about the places you've been? - Just wanted to go to a different place.

The website does not have all the AIs in the Caribbean, it has a selection of them, the ones I have stayed in are not listed for instance.

I'm not familiar with the Grand Pineapple, but am familiar with the general area, it is on the Atlantic side of the island, quite far from St John, the beaches are really lovely, personally I prefer this area to Dickenson Bay, which is very crowded with hotels and dominated by Sandals.

That link was never denoted as listing all the AI resorts in the entire Caribbean. It is however one of the best sites noted for listings many of the main/majority in several areas. I am not affilated with that site nor to I promote anyone using that site for anything other than research.

Carol18, so glad it helped. Look at TripAdvisor for additional information regarding that hotel including reviews, pictures and forum. Just another research tool.
