September 2018 I was denied entry to the U.S. and was deemed inadmissible due to evidence on my phone of smoking Marijuana. I also admitted in an interview to selling Marijuana in my home country in Europe, but only smoking and being in possession of Marijuana was put on my passport as the reason of inadmissibility.

I am going to Canada for vacation, will I have any problems getting in? I have already received an eTA without any problem. Is being inadmissible in the U.S. enough for me not to be able to get into Canada?

I am fairly certain of the following but no guarantees:

Your denied entry to the US on its own should not impact your entry into Canada. I am assuming you do not have a conviction at home for selling marijuana. The agent may be curious as to whether you will be trying to enter the US again, this time through Canada. So be ready for the question.

That is more tan an idle warning And that includes residue on your clothing or in your bags. The drug sniffing dogs are very good at their jobs.

Even though cannabis is legal in Canada, bringing it into the country is a serious offense - actually more serious in effect than bringing it into the US. Foreign nationals discovered bringing cannabis into Canada, even medical marijuana, will be denied entry and banned, even possibly arrested.. It doesn't matter how much.

I dont know why anyone would even bother to bring any in.. we have lots and its easy to get.. lol , perhaps it depends on where in canada you are going.. small town? large city etc.

I remember reading not too long ago that as Canadians we should never admit that we have ever smoked pot... not even like when you were a teen as the USA can and will deny you entry even for that.. crazy. I dont know if its true though.. better to say nothing no matter which border you are crossing.

When applying for an eTA, can you answer "yes" to this background question - "Have you ever been refused a visa, or permit, denied entry to, or ordered to leave Canada or any other country/territory?" and still be issued with an eTA?

I responded yes to that question and had no problems receiving the eTA.
