WildPlay Nanaimo?
Wondering if anyone on this forum has done this. I thought it might be a fun way to take a break between Victoria and Tofino. My husband and teens enjoy thrill/adventure. Or, do you think that the Capsilano Bridge that we might do in Vancouver offers a similar/less thrilling but more beautiful version of this? Of course, we'll stop at Coombs too.

I have not done this with this company, but I have been researching ziplining for our upcoming trip and I came across this company near Ucluelet/Tofino. http://www.wcwild.com/site/zipline-t...ast-canyon.php
misha2, when are you back from your trip? I would love to hear all about it since we are leaving in two weeks for the same area and I can't wait!

I think we will be arriving just as you are leaving. We are travelling from Toronto to Vancouver on Via Rail with a stopover in Jasper for a couple of nights of camping in the mountains.
In Vancouver we are hoping to go to Lynn Canyon http://www.dnv.org/ecology/suspension_bridge.html, at least half a day at Granville Island http://www.granvilleisland.com/, Grouse Mountain if the weather is nice and the Cannery Museum http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/lhn-nhs/bc/georgia/index.aspx. We are also camping just off of the Sea to Sky Highway which is on a beautiful fjord enroute to Whistler.
We are planning on spending some time in Ucluelet and Tofino where we plan on going kayaking, possibly with this company http://www.oceankayaking.com/index.html, hiking in Pacific Rim National Park http://www.gotofino.com/tofinohikingtrailsbeaches.html, and the Ucluelet Aquarium looks interesting too http://www.uclueletaquarium.org/gal-back-to-wild.html. We are also looking into surfing lessons and, or ziplining.
I found this website http://www.findfamilyfun.com/ to be helpful in finding some off the beaten track, family friendly ideas.
Have you finalized your plans yet?

We're going to do the usual Victoria stuff and then will break our drive to Tofino with WildPlay and Coombs. Thinking of kayaking in Tofino with blackbearkayak. Or, a company run by first nation tour guides. Also, considering splurging on a float plane ecoadventure. Plus, I;m looking at Pacific surf school, zodiac whale watching and Pacific Rim Hike. We are only there three nights so I have some narrowing down to do.
In Vancouver we'll spend half a day in Granville Island and Stanley Park, Still torn between Lynn Canyon and Capilano (?) suspension bridge. Grouse mountain, if the weather is nice. Also, we're taking a free walking tour and a (not free) food cart tour.
You are so kind to include links. It sounds like you're set. But, if you want links to any of the above I am happy to post them.

Sounds like fun. My first choice would be Capilano suspension bridge as they also have a tree top walk, but it is a lot more money. In our family, our youngest may be too afraid to walk across the suspension bridge and I would rather not spend a lot of money only to find out that he won't do it.
I'm curious about your food cart tour. I am assuming that there is a greater variety than there is Toronto, where you can get a wide variety of... hot dogs (also known as smog dogs or street meat). There has been limited success in expanding into other ethnic food cart offerings, but I am curious to know what Vancouver has to offer. We were there two years ago and I don't recall seeing a lot of food vendors, but then again I wasn't looking for them either. Granville Island Market is the first place that comes to mind for exceptional food.

WHen you are in Coombs, go to the back of the market to the new Italian restaurant 'Cukoos'. It is better IMO than the one inside the market and a much nicer ambiance. Run by the same people.
You will pass the produce shed on your way and they have great and reasonably priced local produce (fruit etc) that you can take with you.
