Who has eaten at "Rain" in Toronto?

Just wondering what the experience is like - I have heard/read mixed reviews.

Did you check chowhound.com - I'm sure you'll find opinions there. I haven't eaten there myself.

Travel, are you coming to Toronto?
Sorry I can't help with the restaurant.
Just curious... where do you live? You talk about lots of snow... are you north of Edmonton?

We do not have immediate plans for Toronto (have flown there a few times in the past for some hockey games, have been in the airport heaps of times!) but if the urge hits (and it likely will) we want to come for a short break. We have done Niagara Falls/NOL, etc. so this would be strictly a Toronto trip.

Yes, we do live north of Edmonton.

i have been to rain twice.

the first time about a year ago was amazing. the food was unbelievably good and the service was much less pretentious that i was expecting.

i went back recently only just for dessert and a drink around 9:30pm on a saturday, not sure if it was just the night or not, but the restaurant was pretty much empty. the food was still great though.

if you go, and i think its worth a try - so of the best food i've ever eaten in toronto - bring your wallet, its pricy.

have fun!

Thanks! That type of food is up my alley and the culinary science is how I cook, too. We'll definitely look into it. We also want to try Susur.
