Whistler or Banff for Golf
We are traveling to Vancouver from Baltimore, Maryland in August. We have never been to Canada. My husband and I play golf, and is Whistler or Banff the place to go for golf? I have read up on both places, and I am confused as to which place to go. Both places seem to have excellent golf courses. We will be vacationing for 8 days.

Well, you first have to consider the distances. Banff is in the province of Alberta in the Rocky Moutains which is about a 10-12 hour drive east of Vancouver in the next time zone.
Whistler is just an hour and a half drive north of Vancouver in the Coast Mountains.
With 8 days in the Vancouver region, Whistler would make the most sense. I don't play golf, so I wouldn't know from firsthand experience which place is better, although I do know some big name golf tournaments have been held in Whistler, and that Whistler is a destination for golfers.

i would choose whistler as all 4 golf courses are award winning, plus the drive up to whistler is very scenic, plus whistler is a nice place for a day trip, you can stroll thru the village, shopping, nice restaurants, ride the gondolla's, swim in the lakes, i believe there is 5 or 6. we love to visit whistler in the summer. www.tourismwhistler.com
