Where to stay in Waterton Lakes NP?
We are planning a trip to include Wateton Lakes next year but are really struggling on accommodation. Tripadvisor has incredibly varied reviews on seemingly every hotel in the park with some of them being worryingly bad.
We are not too bothered about price. So what recommendations do Fodorites have for this park?
Thanks

The Kilmorey is a good place. So is the Windflower.
My last two visits I stayed at Shintangle Springs B and B located a few K outside the park entrance.
It is a "purpose built" B and B. The rooms are large and comfortable with parking at the door. The entrance to the B and B part is separate and there is a microwave available for guest use.
I like the place and would go back again. Waterton town site is an easy drive. The only thing that will slow you up is entering the park.
We had a season pass, and it worked like a parking lot key card.
The Prince of Wales has the atmosphere, but not the quality of the rooms relative to the price. If you want a room with a fantastic view, a charming place to stay, then go there and pay the price. It would be good for a one time experience.
The food is pretty good as well. Just don't be alarmed if a strong wind shakes the place a little. Those usually come in the Chinook season, which is not now.

Waterton Glacier Suites or the Kilmorrey would be my pick. I would never recommend the Prince of Wales, overpriced and not in the best of shape.
The Kilmorrey has a great restaurant.
The Bayshore is basic but clean.
It also has a decent restaurant.
Everything is within walking distance so not to worry.

We stayed at the Kilmorey Lodge recently. It's nice (a bit "chintzy" but clean, comfortable and has an overall nice atmosphere around the whole place.
Staff were all very good, and the food is excellent (restaurant or bar). I would recommend it.
Kilmorey is also well placed for a wander round the townsite, as it is very close to town.
Prince of Wales looked a bit "out of it" stuck on the other side of the bay.
I guess it depends what sort of place you like... oh, and if it makes any difference to you - the Kilmorey clean your car windscreen every morning for you

I join the chorus of warnings against the Prince of Wales. It is lovely and I recommend stopping for tea or a meal, but not overnight. The rooms were cramped, very hot, no screens on the windows...and VERY BUGGY.

Thanks everyone.
rosieh - "chintzy" I reckon sums up the Kilmorey having looked at the pics on the website!
I think we are down to between there and the Crandell Mountain Lodge - any views on this one from anyone?
Thanks
