Which section of Toronto should we look to stay in? Is Toronto a walking city or a driving city? We're only staying one day and night in August - what should we not miss?

Toronto is a very large city, but unless you want to visit an attraction in the outskirts such as the zoo, you can leave your car parked and walk or take the subway.

Bloor Street is a handy location.

Bloor and Yonge (intersection of Yonge and Bloor/Danforth subway lines); Bloor and Avenue Road (Museum subway stop); Bloor and St. George - St. George is the subway station for that location.

I always like The Intercontinental on Front St, as the perfect location for access to the Entertainment District, Queen St W.... Rogers Centre, the Waterfront and the subway system across the street... lots of bars,clubs, restaurants, plays, music, near Kensington Market, Chinatown, and short walks to a lot of Toronto...have fun!

the sheraton, the weston harbourfront castle, and the fairmont royal york are all nice hotels in good locations within walking distance to many things. Enjoy the city

I've always stayed at either the Royal York or Intercontinental on Front... but this last trip (in preparation for a move there) we stayed at the Four Seasons in Yorkville. I loved it, and now I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

The renovated Art Gallery of Ontario is excellent. It's near both Chinatown and Queen St. W., so walking around the area before or after a visit, would give you a good idea of Toronto's diversity. There is a Sheraton nearby. Nota Bene is one of the top restaurants in that area.
