When to go to Mont Tremblant

I'm thinking of planning a ski trip to Mont Tremblant for sometime this winter (I know...I'm getting a late start!). It will just be me and my husband and we can be flexible on dates. I was thinking about late February/early March. What do you think? Is this a good time to go? How far into March can we go without worrying about bad ski conditions? Thanks for any help you can provide!

hi there,
you can usually ski at tremblant into april so i wouldn't worry about there not being snow in march!

i have been to tremblant in mid-april where there were blizzards! lol...

the only thing you should check is when spring break will be for the school children - usually end of march. avoid tremblant at that time. they usually jack up their rates for that week or two so you will know when it is on.

i think march is a great time to go b/c the weather is not as cold but the skiing is still great.

Thanks for the reply! I went to Mont Tremblant's web site to find out when the schools' breaks are. I'm confused...It said that Feb.22-Mar.6 is Quebec School break and March 7 - 20 is Ontario's Spring break. Which of these should I stay away from? That's a pretty long time period for school breaks. I really wanted to go sometime in that time frame. What do you think?

hmmm... that is a toughie. i would definitely NOT go for the quebec school break.

i think the elementary school break in ontario is march 13-20. so, my suggestion would be to go between march 7-13. or else go february in the week before the break...

how long will you go for? most of the units will have kichen facilities if ou want to cook for yourself.

we stay at the country inn because we like the convenience of the included continental breakfast.
i checked the rates at the country inn for march 5-7 and they were pretty good (278 CAD for two nights).

Why is the Quebec break so much worse? Oh well, I guess it's no big deal to go between the 7th and 13th as long as you're pretty certain the conditions will still be good and there will be plenty of snow. What do you think? Thanks so much for your responses. I really appreciate it...it's so helpful to me!

One more question, if you don't mind...I've heard some good things about Quebec City and the ski areas around there (Mont Saine-Anne, Le Massif, Stoneham). My husband and I are intermediate skiers and love cute little towns, shops, etc. Do you recommend we go to Mont Tremblant or these other areas instead? Thanks again for your thoughts!

I ski regularly at Tremblant and enjoy it, but in your case I would choose the Québec city area in a flash. I haven't skied at Stoneham, but Mont Ste-Anne is as good as if not better than Tremblant, and Le Massif is simply spectacular. It's my favourite in Eastern Canada. Aside from great skiing, the food there is outstanding.

You can get a pass that's good for all three resorts, and they all have plenty of trails for intermediates. As for weather, you should be OK throughout March at either Tremblant or Québec, although good conditions will last longer at the latter, as it's further north and the annual snowfall is greater. Late February and early March should give you ideal conditions.

You have lots of options for places to stay, including Québec City. The Tremblant village is cute, but it's all very artificial. Québec and surroundings are the real thing!
