My husband and I will be coming to Victoria in a couple of weeks and staying at Laurel Pointe. We are looking for info on whale watching trips and companies from the harbor area. Can anyone help? Thanks.

I have booked a whale wathcing trip with Orca Spirit (They are next to the hotel).

They were fully booked for the time we wanted (was 6 weeks away) so book early.

We took a whale watching tour on Springtide Charters out of Victoria harbor in mid-June. They have one of the larger boats complete with more than adequate on board lavatories. Had a great experience, especially since a couple of the resident Orca pods joined up that day. The reality is that all of the whale watching boats go to the same place, which is wherever the whales happen to be that day. The major factor to consider is what type of boat you want to be on (open zodiac, large cruiser, etc), so check out the websites for the various companies to see what type of boats each company offers.

If you are taking the ferry from Tsawassen, orcas are often visible enroute. Just loook for the cluster of whale watching boats
