We want to vacation in Vancouver and need some help....

Hi,We were just talking to some people who just came back from Vancouver,BC and they said it was their favorite place to vacation.
And they have travelled extensively too.
Now is there a hotel that has both Ocean/Mountain Views? A resort like place?
Someplace with a pool?Pool Bar?
I'm just looking for someplace to relax for a few nights...
Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

You can learn lots from a map that would be helpful inyour planning.

It's not the ocean, but it is saltwater, in various bays and inlets, plus some rivers. This means you can usually see across the water to something on the other side.

And north of the city there are mountains you could walk to from downtown, if you really wanted to.

Lots of hotels let you see water and mountains. The Westin Bayshore, is, as the name suggests, on the shore of the bay, with Stanley Park across the first part of water, and the mountains in the background.

Again, lots of hotels with pools. Can't speak about pool bars. Vancouver is not a hot city, because it is so close to the water.

About "resport" like places. AGain, the Bayshore is the best bet downtown, because it has the most lawns, etc., and you can walk to Stanley Park.

For more resort-like places, Whistler British Columbia, north of the city, is an internationally famed ski resport.

The Bayshore is the first thing that came to my mind.

Absolutely, the Bayshore. Stayed there in early Aug and, as usual, loved it. Definitely a "resort" feel, with an indoor and outdoor pool, spa, etc. Good restaurants on site and a short walk away.

Make sure you get a water-view room. I like the ones that face east, to better was the float planes and boat traffic.

I'm not a fan of the Pan Pacific, but there seem to be lots of people who enjoy it.

You almost sound as though you are describing a desire to visit Victoria rather than Vancouver. Smaller, more intensly touristy, more resortlike,on the water. While Vancouver was also great,it is, basically, a large cosmopolitan city with areas that are attractive to tourists.

worldcom: Your multiple postings of your business email address sure looks like advertising to me, and you must know that it isn't allowed on Fodor's

Not the intent. It is my vacation home and currently occupied with a hurricane victim (at no charge) so that’s why it is not available. I posted several hotel web sites and was attempting to be helpful as I spend half my time up there. IT is mainly my vacation home, but I do rent it occasionally to offset me mortgage as I work for a wildlife rescue non profit and do not have the kind of income needed to have it sit vacant. That is why I have the web site, I didn’t thing of it at all as advertising. My error apparently. Tell me how to delete postings and I will do so.

I should know good intentions pave the road... Thank you for reminding me.

Don't worry about deleting, as it's impossible to do so except for the Fodor's editors. I'm sure that you posted with the best of intentions.
