Victoria over July 4th weekend
I am going to be travelling to Victoria from July 4- July 7 and will be taking the ferry from Port Angelas to Victoria and back. We are booked to stay in the Hotel Grand Pacific and I was wondering if anyone had stayed there and what their thoughts were? Can anyone give me an approximation as to how early we should get in line to take our car over on the ferry? I was also wondering about restaurants in the Victoria and things we should not miss while we are there.

I will be staying at the Hotel Grand Pacific the weekend before you...My boyfriend has stayed their before and said it was very nice. the location is perfect, right on the inner harbour, within walking distance to everything. There is a Folkfest on in victoria, and may still be on when you are there.

The Port Angeles Ferry has, (anecdotaly I admit), waits of up to 24 hours on busy weekends for people with cars. if you can at all arrange it you should try to get to Victoria via Washington State Ferries from Anacortes or, much better, via BC ferries from Tsawassen.

I used to live near the terminal on the Victoria side and see the lineups daily. A nice plan in September, but I personaly would opt for the Tsawassen route on what is the busiest weekend of the year. The border crossing at Peace Arch will be hell, but not compared to sleeping in your car in Port Angeles.<BR>The Grand Pacific is a classy hotel in a wonderful location.
