Vancouver transportation downtown

I need some help getting from Vancouver airport later this month. Flight arrives before noon and am looking for information on public bus or airport shuttle downtown to Sandman hotel. I will be joining a tour from there but returning to Vancouver for my flight back so I need to book a R/T ride. Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

We were in Vancouver last week and used the Towncar or "limo" service at the airport. They say a cab ride downtown should cost about $35, and the Towncar cost $39. http://www.yvr.ca/guide/toandfrom/limos.asp
We hit a lot of traffic (also arriving around noon) and it was good not to have to watch a meter the whole time. The cars are right at the curb, no need to reserve. You would have to reserve in advance for your return trip to the airport, though.

I'm sure shuttles are cheaper, but you have to make so many stops, it could take you hours to get to your hotel (for 3 of us, the "limo" was more economical.) www.yvrairporter.com/

I can't help you with public transport. Hopefully someone can chime in. www.yvr.ca/guide/toandfrom/public.asp

We took a city bus downtown for less than $4. It took 45 minutes in the morning rush hour. Returning to the airport was faster. Google translink for information.

The new rapid transit line(Canada line)is opening soon. I think Aug. 17 but I'm not sure. You will be able to get from YVR to downtown on the train. If you google canada line Or Translink(the company that runs public transit in Vancouver), you may get more info.

Hi - I live in Vancouver and travel from here often. I always take a limo which you catch directly outside the arrival area. I usually take it when there are 2 of us. The bus does take a while because it stops at all the hotels, but is only about 10 dollars one way. To eliminate stress, take the limo, but agree on the price first. Just in case you do run into traffic. And enjoy your trip! I know I live here, but Vancouver, Whistler, Vancouver Island, the Okanagan and the Rockies are all fantastic!

The skytrain to the airport is opening on the August 17. IF you come on that day, it's FREE (bonus) – otherwise, you'll probably pay about $5.00 (I'm guessing) from downtown. If you're at the Sandman on Georgia Street, the closest skytrain station is the "Stadium/Chinatown" station – about 1 1/2 blocks away from the hotel. I'm thinking you'll have to transfer at the Granville Station to go to the airport. Advertised time to the airport is 20 minutes.

Thank you to all for responses. I just checked the itinerary and I will be at Park Inn & Suites Vancouver
898 West Broadway
Vancouver
BC V5Z 1J8
TEL. 6048728661 on arrival August 24. I will be leaving from Vancouver on September 8 at end of the tour. If I can get the skytrain close to the terminal that will be very easy and will save a lot on limo cost. Kate

898 W. Broadway is just a few blocks west of the Cambie St station on the south side of the street an easy 10 minute walk.

If you like Indian food Saravana Bhavan across the road has a great lunch time buffet excellent value delicious food.

Also you could easily walk down to Granville island in about 20 minutes-Google maps is your friend in that regard.

I think the Canada line ends somewhere close to Canada place(cruise ship terminal). I don't know the actual route, but I'd expect it will be easy to catch the sky train from somewhere near the cruis ship terminal.
