Vancouver island OR Sunshine coast???

Looking for advice. Traveling with two young children in June to Vancouver. Looking to spend 5 days in either vancouver island OR sunshine coast (interested in boat tours, hiking, kayaking, beautiful scenery). Seems like trying to do both in that time frame would be too much. any thoughts on which would be best???

appreciate any comments!!!

Well, I think that depends on how in-depth you would like to get. Doable, but less than ideal.

Check the BC Ferries website, they offer some packages. You wouldn't necessarily have to buy the package, but you can adapt it to your schedule.

The Coastal Circle Tour is 5 nights with visits to both the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. https://www.bcferriesvacations.com/p...al-circle-tour

Hello BC is a great resource for our trips, and they also lay out a good coastal loop: http://www.hellobc.com/driving-route...cle-route.aspx

Btw, I think you are wise to focus on one or the other. Personally, I think the Sunshine Coast would be a better fit for your plans. The ferry rides along the way to Lund were really enjoyable, and there are good kayaking opportunities.

Here's a good link for the Sunshine Coast: http://www.sunshinecoastcanada.com

I would definitely choose Vancouver Island. It offers a larger variety of things to do. You can head to Tofino for great beaches, walks/hikes and just the rugged coastline. My kids could spend an entire five days beach walking, flying kites, playing on surfboards, etc.
The area around Qualicum also offers some nice beaches and some great farms you can visit with the kids.
Victoria is always a fun little sity to explore. Sooke is just outisde of Victoria and again offers some great scenery and walks for the kids.
You can get out on the water almost anywhere. Kayaking with young children might be tough but a boat tour will definitely be fun.
The Sunshine Coast is smaller and scenic but I just don't think it gives you the variety you are looking for.
Don't do both…it's too much.
