Vancouver Isl/San Juan Isl.

Message: Here’s my possible itinerary for August:

Days 1&2 :Arrive at 11 am. Rent car and travel to Anacortes ferry.Stay on San Juan Isl. for two nights. Thinking of Tower House B&B,Longhouse B&B (has anyone stayed there?) .Or two nights on Orcas. Or even one night on each. Your help here would be appreciated.

Day 3: Victoria. Stay at a B&B there or at Sooke.

Days 4&5: Stay with friends in Parksville and hit that area ,plus Tofino.
Day 6 (Sun): Travel back to Victoria and ferry to Port Angeles. Stay at a B&B (recommendations?)in Port Townsend area.

Day 7: “Play” around Olympic Ntl. Forest and either stay at same B&B or travel closer to Seattle for flight back the next morning. (Can still change my flight and add one more night).
Any ideas,recommendations,thoughts,etc are appreciated.

Day 6 - I'm wondering which ferry you plan to take (what time of day). Assuming you have a vehicle, you could have a long wait.

Two days isn't long for Parksville and Tofino. I would add a day if possible.

Since you're going to see fabulous Long Beach, skip Sooke. You wouldn't have much time for exploring anyway.

My choice would be to drive straight up to Parksville on Day 3, return to Victoria a day early and be in the ferry line-up first thing the next morning. Phone the Coho the night before and they will tell you how early you can arrive. Once your car is in the line-up, you can go for breakfast nearby.

If I were going to stay in Port Townsend again, I would try the Ann Starrett Mansion.

I went to Victoria last weekend and paid $9.50 each way to walk on the ferry.

Taking a car on the ferry varies depending on which day in the week you travel, how large your vehical is, what your destination is and how many people are there with you.

All the information you'd want to know is at: http://www.bcferries.bc.ca under the "Fares" section.

And the Coho between Victoria and Port Angeles is $8.00 U.S. for a passenger. $31.00 U.S. for car and driver.

Decided to take the advice re. extra time north of Victoria. I talked with Coho and the suggested getting in line 4 hours before the pm ferry. I could then do some "wandering" around Victoria during most of that time.
