Vancouver in late August
My husband and I will be making our first trip to Vancouver in late August, after we return from an Alaska cruise. We will only have about 3 days to spend in Vancouver. Any "must sees"? Also, any recommendations as to hotel accommodations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

If you look back on some old postings here, you will find a lot of info about Vancouver. In brief: "Musts" include Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown, lots of seafood. If you think you won't be back anytime soon, spend one of your days in Victoria, otherwise save it for another trip when you can give it the time it deserves. I have stayed at the Blue Horizon Hotel on Robson St (main downtown street), lots of shops, restaurants, museums, and all "musts" mentioned above are within walking distance. If you are from the U.S., this is a great time to go to Canada, the CDN$ is very low now. You will love Vancouver!

Hi! I'm from Vancouver and would agree with the above posters for 'must sees'. I would add Robson Street and Granville Island to the list. With regard to the Blue Horizon Hotel, I've not stayed there, but have been reading pretty good things about it. People say to try and get the highest room possible because it's right on busy Robson Street. We usually stay at the Metropolitan Hotel or the Four Seasons once a year for our anniversary - - -great hotels, but the views are of the city - not of the mountains or water if that is what you're looking for. If you like being right in the city they are great. Great night lights. I hope you have a wonderful time and I would say that you couldn't have picked a better time of year to come here.

I had a wonderful two weeks in Vancouver last Sept...It's a beautiful, interesting, safe city. We took a trolley tour from Gastown that took us past all the major sights and the different parts of town. That way we got a quick overview and then could go back to the places we liked. I loved Granville Island, the view, shops, market and lively street performers made it fun. We also went through the newspaper and at the last minute went to several plays. I loved the Kitsalano area. Enjoy!
