Vancouver hotel suggestions - budget around $300 per night
We'll be going in August. We're not particularly looking for boutique or trendy, just a good location where we can walk to many things. We won't have a car. So far I've been looking at the Blue Horizon, is that in a good location?

We liked Hotel Le Soleil. Small suites. I can't remember the price but the hotel was pretty and the service was very good. Nice location too.

Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is right in the heart of downtown, and is $290 a night on Hotels.ca
Hyatt Regency is across the street for $247
Wedgewood is right near Robson, for $270
Sutton Place for $230
Westin Grand for $230
THe Renassance Vancouver Harbour has great ocean views and in the heart of the city for $260
And the Pan Pacific, right on the water as well and attached to the cruise ship centre, downtown, is at $349 which is a bit above your budget, but thought I would throw it out there.
THe blue Horizon is a great location as well, right in the heart of things on Robson. They are much more affordable, at under $150 on Hotels.ca. We stayed there a number of years ago and liked it. A lot of great resteruants within walking distance and you can rent bikes to go to the park and beaches close by. Anything on or near Robson is ideal.
It depends on the amount of luxury you want.

the coast plaza, comox @denman, has large rooms, many w/ balconies and often has great deals. lots of eating on denman and near stanley park and english bay as well as buses downtown.
smaller rooms but again good value, the refurbished sylvia hotel on english bay
these are both in the west end so a bit quieter than downtown locations but very convenient imo
cheers
