Vancouver Choices: Help, please!

Going to Vancouver for four nights - first time visitors, just me and husband - and have narrowed it down to Pan Pacific or Wedgewood. Know the view would be better at Pan, but sounds chaotic because it's so big. Wedgewood sounds more relaxing but close to everything.

Can anyone recommend a specific type of room or suite at either hotel as being a great experience?

Well, I haven't stayed at the PanPacific, but the Wedgewood is my favorite hotel ever. It's got such a wonderful ambiance, it's quiet and comfortable, and yet it's right off of Robson Street.

I really enjoyed Vancouver, but part of me just wanted to stay in and enjoy my hotel!

Amy, would you recommend a certain kind of room? We will be there for four days, and I wonder if we should opt for the bigger accomodations - like the one bedroom suite.

I guess our choice depends on the nicest space we can afford in either hotel - doesn't have to be the largest, just the most comfortable.

Thanks for your input!

I've never stayed at the Pan Pacific, but I have stayed in a regular double room as well as a one-bedroom suite at the Wedgewood. The rooms are more or less standard size; the suites are HUGE. You could entertain a crowd in the living room. My suggestion would be to ask for a room looking out on to Hornby Street; otherwise the view isn't very inspiring (a parking lot, I think). The Wedgewood is also my favourite hotel ever, although the view isn't its strong point; the service and general feeling of the place is matchless as far as I'm concerned. Have a great trip!

I stayed in a standard room (as I was travelling alone) and was very comfortable; the rooms are certainly much more spacious than most European hotels I've been in

Have a wonderful time, and do some Lush shopping if you don't have a Lush store near home! (It's only about a block away on Robson...)

Well, I decided on the Wedgewood and booked four nights. The rates on their own website were the best I found (well, it turns out that the AAA rate was $3 American dollars less, but not worth mentioning), but I called anyway to see if I could get better ones. No, but I did have a nice conversation with the reservations person.

I will post when I return.
