Hi, other than Lumiere, what would you say is the next best restaurant in the Vancouver area? Any cuisine.<BR><BR>thanks

There are so many great restaurants in so many different categories, (eg, continental, asian, west coast, etc.) that the question itself is beyond vague. even the assumption that Lumiere is the best restaurant is totally debateable.

Chill. I didn't mean to infer that Lumiere was the best, not at all. Last Christmas we gave my in-laws (who live in Van) a gift cert for Lumiere, so this Christmas we want to give them a gift cert for another restaurant, that's all. So I thought I would just ask for some suggestions on other good restaurants..something in the $100 range for two for appetizer, main and desserts. They are not drinkers at all. Just was looking for for some restaurant suggestions!

Debbie, I would recommend Bishops, Star Anise, or C. However, I am suprised that they managed to eat at Lumier for only $100.

thanks Rita, that's the second time I've seen that Bishops place mentioned so that might be the one. <BR>Okay, so maybe they didn't eat in Lumiere for $100. but close enough. thanks for the help with my christmas shopping!

They always have one section that focuses on cuisine, and their opinions are trustworthy. Perhaps for next time, or, if you're still thinking about a restaurant, you can read up on them here. Star Anise hasn't been considered one of the best restaurants in Vancouver in years. They have changed ownership at least once and you rarely hear it mentioned anymore here. I was there myself around a year ago and found it to be mediocre with extremely bad service, but they could have just been having an off night.

900 in the lobby of Holtel Vancouver! best meal i have had in a long time! we were there in August.
