Maggie, I have never stayed in the Marriot but it is right next door to Embassy so the views are the same. Just get a Fallsview room. The rate at the Embassy inclues a wonderful cooked to order breakfast and $45.00 toward an evening meal: http://www.embassysuitesniagara.com/...iewdining.html not sure what Marriot offers. I like the location of both these hotels because you can walk out the back of the hotels, they have a bridge that both hotels use, you walk across and to the incline which for $2.00pp takes you to the Falls. A pretty short walk actually. There is valat parking at Embassy which I think was $18.00 a day with in and out priveliges which you want so that you can drive to Goats Island or NOTL.

Maggie, we were trying to decide between the Marriott and the embassy but got a better deal with the embassy for our trip. the Marriott was right next door to the embassy! I originally was going to book at the Marriott because a co-worker of mine had stayed there and gave me the idea for the trip but then found more reviews on here for the Embassy. I think you would be fine choosing either one as they are similar and right next to each other, so whatever works better $$$ wise would be best. have fun!!!!!

We are going at the end of August and this thread was awesome. Thanks to everyone. we are also flying into Buffalo for business then hoping to make a trip to Niagra for the weekend.

I didn't see Cave of the Winds..are we missing it....
I am too trying to decide on where to stay American or Canadian. So I like the suggestion of seeing the American side and then staying on the Canadian.
I do have a question tho if we have two nights there and we wanted to see fireworks and see teh falls lit up...should we see one of the falls one night and the other the next night.
So maybe stay till night time on teh American side, then cross to go over and stay the night?

I would stay on the Canadian both nights, and walk over to the American side for a little bit. We always stayed on the Canadian side, but last time we did walk over to the American side and I really liked the views from over there. I am so glad we finally did it. It was perfect. I just think there's more to do on the Canadian side, and why go through the hassle of moving hotels?
I'm not sure I understand your question about seeing the falls at night. You can see both falls from the Canadian side at night. The lights shine onto the falls from the Canadian side, so I do not know what the would look like from the American side.

bgsnmky, Cave of the Winds is on the American side on Goats Island. Goats Island is great to walk around and view the Falls from that side. They have a restaurant that I hear is good but we have never eaten there. You can take the Maid of the Mist from the American side or Canadian side. You want to experience Goat Island but you want to stay on the Canadian side. There are no hotels on the American side that are near the Falls and you have many to choose from on the Canadian. For instance the two discussed above, Embassy and Marriot, have Fallsview rooms where you see the fireworks from your room and the Falls lit up at night. Just be sure and book a Fallsview room.

Thanks...I am getting way to excited now...
Looking up all the rooms that have a view they seem very different. some are close some are two blocks away etc....
I am about to post another question...to ask about hotels and things to do.
