Toronto Oct 12-16 accomodations H E L P!

My first visit to Toronto. I picked a great weekend - all major Hotels are sold out - however - I managed to get reservations at two places. Grange Apartment Hotel @ 165 Grange Avenue and the Whitehall Aprtments @ 49 St. Clair Ave West. I want to explore downtown, shop and enjoy the nightlife. Which location would you recommend. I appreciate all comments, suggestions, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Bill - I brought up an old posting on The Grange - have you tried a bed and breakfast called Daniel's Musical Hideaway - (web site www.danielsmusicalhideaway.com) It's near Yonge and Bloor (shopping area). Friends of ours stayed there and really enjoyed it.

Good luck.

Hi,
I was there in July and stayed at the Novotel Hotel. It's not real expensive, and it's quite nice. The staff is great and it has a fairly good restaurant. The rooms were cheerful and clean. It's located on The Esplanade near the train station, so its really convenient to the subway and most attractions.

If it's the one on Carlton, then yes, it's a good moderate-priced high rise hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there if I wanted to save some money.
