I was perusing some of my old posts and came across this one, so I thought I would give an update.
I did use the TTC. I ended up staying at the Travelodge on Dundas in Mississauga and was able to catch the Mississauga bus across the street from the hotel and take it directly to the Islington station. Very convenient.
I found the stations to be clean, easy to maneuver, and safe. It was very easy to figure out where I was at any given time.
I traveled into downtown between 7:30 and 9 a.m. in the morning and never had a problem finding a seat. Even going back to the hotel in evening rush hour was not a problem.
Later evenings, I always felt safe at the stations and on the trains or bus.
I mentioned I was impressed BEFORE I went, and I'm glad to say that my good impression never failed.
I even sat on the train thinking that when I retire, I would move there and spend my days on the trains announcing the stations.
